Some days in life are just •that• good. There’s no special reason that you can think of, but you know you just feel at peace. Sunday was that day for me this week. Of course, it was church day, and spending time in worship with fellow believers and hearing the Word is always fulfilling. The message was on God’s Toolbox, and how He has individual tools, and he has everything he already needs. Somehow though, when He puts those tools together, (for example, you and me together, or individually but stacked with something He has prepared for us,) such as a hammer and a chisel, the two combined are more powerful than on their own.
Maybe it just struck a chord with me. Maybe it was having lunch with my wonder husband and two boys after service, or getting my hair done later that day. Either way, and likely all of the above, I felt great. While getting my hair done, my stylist and I shared stories and experiences. She is one of those people, like I myself am often told, that you can barely know them, but you feel like you’ve known them “forever.” I’ve sat in her chair now twice after being referred by my cousin. My cousin retired her salon to go back in to teaching new stylists at the academy, and I was nervous about finding someone as good as she had always been. I’m a little particular with my long and very thick hair! Thankfully, my new stylist taught my old stylist / cousin, so I knew I was being referred to good hands.
She has been faced with a difficult time recently and she is turning it in to something great, and something I am not even sure she realizes she is doing. It’s amazing, and people are reaching out to her, expressing their experiences and thanking her for voicing hers. We talked marriage, we talk kids, we talked business plans, and everything in between for the near two hours I sat in her chair. She had no idea she was blessing me. It blessed me with friendship, it blessed me to be more grateful for what I have overcome in my own experiences. It blessed me in dreaming up new ideas in business, whether it is for myself or others, that I love to do. It blessed me to have a voice of my own, and reminded me to cheer others on in their own victories! You know, doctors will tell you it’s great to sit down and talk with a professional, and let your thoughts “all out.” They never said what “type” of chair it had to be.
So for every day you are able to spend time with your family, for the moments you get to partake in some overdue self care and get blessed more than you imagined, & and for every opportunity you get the chance to spend time with people that you simply just feel good to be around...know to value all those great days. It makes you better. When you’re better, you help others be better. Give God thanks on those great days.
Whether it’s a leggings & hair-in-a-sloppy-bun-day kind of day, or a dressed-up & curls kind of way, take the time to feel gratitude. It helps you overcome the days that aren’t so great - days where there is hurt, days where you just feel like complete and utter junk. Still - Give God thanks on those days too. What’s the reason to still give God thanks on the yuk days? It’s Simple - because a day with God is still better than facing it alone.
