Merry Christmas 2019!
It’s the end of Christmas night 2019. Quite literally as I write the blog for December, it is nearing midnight. The gifts have all been opened. The food has all been eaten. The time with family has been spent. New memories have been made. Love and appreciation have grown. Gratitude has increased, as we thank Him we have had another year to be in each other’s lives and know He is the reason. Merry Christmas from our family to yours! 🎄🎁❤️
Also featured in this picture below: It’s like the 10th picture (okay, maybe it was the 15th picture) that has been taken, all while the kids groan “ugh” as I try to find one where we are smiling, our eyes are opened, and we are actually looking at the camera, all while I hold a selfie stick and attempt to look natural. The husband is ready to sit down and relax, telling the kids it’s pointless they groan because he knows I will get that picture. I’m so ready to get off my feet and just rest. Guess what? Taking the picture is still worth it for the memories attached to it! One day they will, as they have with all the other pictures over the years, look back with smiles, laughter, and joy as they remember the memories attached to the photos. It was a good day. ❤️
It’s a good day any day you can be loved and have love in your heart for others too. It makes no matter if your house isn’t spotless, if you wrapped the presents you bought or made on time, or if the food was perfectly cooked as you planned. It makes no matter if you were able to budget freely and buy to your hearts content or were only able to budget an “I love you” wrapped in a hug. What matters is remembering that God came down and robed himself in flesh as the man Jesus, the I Am that I Am. He came to be with us so we could be with Him. What matters is that you made great memories today in spite of any stresses or pressures of this world. What matters is that you shared love even if you couldn’t be together physically whether it be work, military, or sickness that kept you apart. What matters is you. Your life has value and to someone, without a doubt many someones, you mean the world to them and giving your time to celebrate love together is better than any beautifully wrapped gift. Jesus is the reason for the season. You and I matter to Him. Happy birthday Jesus, we love you, and will always celebrate You!
Now, it’s time to rest up and let all the food you ate digest. You know what I’m talking about alright, it was those last bites of food that was SO good you just “had” to have it. Oh but now, now you feel like your are going to burst because you just had to have it. Yeah, that extra dessert did you in! Well rest up, be thankful, and be ready to get up tomorrow and enjoy a new day.
Until next time ~ Nikki Smith
