Scripture Reminders...

As we are already ending the 3rd day of the new year in 2020, a scripture popped in my mind as I was writing in the Christian Planner I bought for myself from christianplanner.com, so that I could, 1) Actually learn to journal consistently, and enjoy it and, 2) Plan my month/day out. I’m the type that will try and do 30 things at once if I don’t keep a to do list!

Anyway, Psalm 119:105 popped in my head after reflecting onto doctor appointment with my Rheumatologist yesterday. [It wasn’t the best news, but all will be alright. I have to makes some changes to my medication and in my daily regimen of self care.] So the scripture say: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” I always think it’s funny when specific scriptures pop in my head. Not like “ha, ha, lol” kind of funny but funny as in God telling me “I got you.” It makes me smile and I know I wouldn’t think of it on my own, but with Jesus, I do.

Today, that scripture and chapter read to me as a reminder that no matter what we may face, what we may endure, or what we may not understand, we should recall and remind God what His promises are to us. It’s not that He cannot remember them, but it is an encouragement to us to recall what He has done before us, for us, and what He will do as we remain faithful to Him. Also in that, any time we fall short or stray from Him and His ways, when we come back to Him and He’s there for us, loving us, once again. He’s “got” us. He loves us. He carries the burden of life on His shoulders like it’s a feather. He is strong. ❤️

Until next time ~ Nikki

Sorry, I’ve Got to Call Them Out

Sorry everyone, I have got to call out a group and I hate to do it but it’s time —> “some” Medical Professionals. I really do love you all, and there are so many things we couldn’t survive as a community without you, but there is this one thing I see pop up. It’s apathy for the non-exciting sports injuries.   Two weeks ago yesterday, our youngest who is a freshman, was playing his beloved football game at school. Towards the very end of the game during the 4th quarter, our son made a great tackle, but he also took a knee to the center of his chest. You know, of course it was just right where the shoulder pads didn’t cover: in the center. He shook it off until the end of the game (this kid will play through most anything!) We iced him down and watched him overnight and by the next day the very bottom area of his sternum was incredibly swollen; it looked like a tennis ball was under his skin! However, Saturday that was all but gone but still the center of his sternum hurt. We iced...

Back in the Saddle - Check out my ETSY Shop!

It's been a while! I am starting my blog again, because it's 2023, and we have SURVIVED and will continue to SURVIVE from the last few years on this wild ride of a world we live in. I created my own ETSY Shop, and my first item is a flexible and forgiving Budget Planner called The Budget for Surviving Life! My ETSY Shop is called - you guessed it - The Ever Evolving Smith - because that is simply who I am. I evolve. I learn something new daily. How fun is that? We are here to not only survive, but grow, and thrive - and that is what we all dream of right? We share love and hope, laughs and tears, throw in a little sass (or throw up hands) sometimes, and do our best to enjoy the time we are given. Printables (instant downloads) are not my only plan with my lil' shop, but it is a great start. I love what I created and I will use it myself. I have spent some time brainstorming, and have jotted down tons of ideas. I don't know about you, but I literally get a natural high...

Silver Lining? Today You get a Clean Slate

Today my youngest son, Luke, and I went to the dentist for a routine cleaning. Shameless plug for our dentist - If you live in the McKinney/Allen/Frisco area, I highly recommend Crescent Family Dentistry with Dr. Spencer Moon! Back to the post at hand - When he came in to do my check after my cleaning, he asked me how things were going, if there was anything to address. I said no, things are good, but I'll be honest and say I've slacked on my flossing some this year following covid and feeling just yucky for have the year. He said, "that's alright, you get a clean slate today!"  No, Dr. Moon didn't coin the phrase, "clean slate," but it was a good reminder that no matter where you are, what you do, how you are doing it, what you regret, what you put off for another day, today you get a clean slate. You get to start over. You get to readjust. You clean to tweak. Absolutely, we should all take advantage of that clean slate! Why? You get the opportuni...
